I had always wanted to make candles, but I never allowed myself the 'luxury'. My pre-concieved notions were that it would be expensive, messy, and potentially dangerous. After talking about for so long, I discovered a small kit on sale and decided to try it. I loved my first homemade votives. My husband lovingly encouraged my interest, suprising me with a standard kit, wax, and molds. Then one day, a few friends mentioned an interest in finding 100% beeswax tapers, and Mystic Light Candles was born.
My natural preference is for no-scent-added, natural beeswax, but I do still make regular paraffin candles from time to time. I love the idea of beeswax as a natural resource. I love knowing that my craft is one that has been around for thousands of years and that I am a part of its continuation. I love the connection I feel to those in the past who have enjoyed this craft as well. I love that candle crafting appeals to my artistic and to my intellectual sides. And I love the idea that my candles might help you in your life and on your path. What's going on right now with MLC? I'm in the middle of developing some great things!
